Whether you require advice on design and planting for a small scale domestic single bed project or hands on installation of a major period feature I would be pleased to undertake your commission.
I have worked extensively on re-creations at Prebendal Manor, Gloucester which Alan Titchmarsh described as a "stunning example of a recreated medieval garden" particularly on the 'Square Garden of Henry the Poet'. Henry was most likely to have been, 'Henricus Anglicus', who is known to have travelled to Naples and many other places. Henry Daniel praising him as 'Doctor and noble poet', quoted his writing on herbal recipes.
The plant list tells what was grown on each of four sides of his garden. Where there is any uncertainty as to which plant is meant in the original documents, then the possible alternatives have been planted. This garden is probably best visited in May or June.
Also shown, right, is the official opening of the Queen Eleanor Garden at the north end of the High Street at Stony Stratford. This 13th century style garden celebrates the town's historic links with Queen Eleanor of Castile. I provided seeds then also advised and assisted volunteers from Stony in Bloom in their successful effort to transform a piece of waste ground into a period garden.
